CHANEL-BOY-QUILTED-PATTERN LEATHER-BAG

This limited edition Small Boy marries quilted red patent leather and silver tone hardware. This bag features a full front flap with a red plexiglass Boy Chanel CC push lock closure and a silver tone chain link and red leather padded shoulder strap.

The open interior compartment is lined in black fabric and features an open pocket on the rear wall. 

 

Chanel, the famed French fashion house, came about in 1909 under the helm of the eponymous Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Originally a milliner, Mme.  Chanel opened her shop in 1910 and designed hats that were immediately embraced by the Parisian elite. Chanel was quite charismatic, sophisticated, witty and driven to succeed, all of which proved to attract men of the aristocracy who introduced her to the French society. In 1913, Chanel opened a store in Deauville and began to offer clothing. Consistent with the reputation that she would earn for liberating women from corseted clothing, Chanel's initial collections were sporty and casual and made from relatively inexpensive materials, such as jersey. In 1915, a second store opened in Biarritz; this store prospered due to Biarritz being a playground for the wealthy in WWI. With the profits, Chanel opened her store on 31 Rue Cambon, a fashionable street in Paris, which remains Chanel's flagship location more than a century later. Chanel expanded her product line offering not only hats and clothing, but also fragrances (Chanel No.5 was introduced in 1921), jewelry and accessories. Within a few years, she owed and operated out of several buildings on Rue Cambon. Her business prospered, attributed to her unique style of clothing and her extensive social network.

In 1939,  Chanel closed her business due to WWII. The business remained closed until around 1954. In February 1955, Chanel introduced the iconic 2.55 handbag (named after the date of introduction). Originally made of jersey or leather typically with the mademoiselle lock closure, the bag has evolved into one of the most coveted bags today. Chanel died in 1971.

In 1983, Karl Lagerfeld became artistic director and revitalized the House of Chanel  while maintaining Coco Chanel's original vision. The Chanel suit, the little black dress, the camellia, the simulated stones, and the 2.55 handbag are among the legacies of Coco Chanel that remain cornerstones of every Chanel collection. Even as new items are introduced, many are built on the life of Chanel. For example, the Boy bag, introduced in 2013 is name after Boy Capel, the man who financed Chanel's first shops.

Tahukah asal usul tas Chanel...yok kita simak cerita Tas  Chanel yang sangat menarik ini,
Chanel, siapa yang tidak pernah mendengar nama tersebut. Salah satu brand kenamaan asal Prancis yang banyak digandrungi kaum hawa. Nama Coco Chanel berasal dari nama pembuatnya sendiri, Coco Bonheur Chanel atau yang lebih terkenal disapa Coco.

    Perjalanan karir Coco sebelum menuai kesuksesan dibadikan dalam film berjudul “Coco Before Channel”, sebuah film karya sutradara Anne Fountain yang rilis tahun 2009 di Prancis. Film yang berlatar abad 19 ini mampu menggambarkan dengan apik kisah masa lalu Coco Chanel yang tidak banyak diketahui orang, mulai dari kisah kelam masa kecilnya hingga masa keemasannya di dunia mode.

    Coco lahir dari keluarga miskin di Saumur, Prancis. Sejak usia sepuluh tahun, Coco dan saudara perempuannya, Adrinne, ditinggalkan ayahnya di sebuah panti asuhan. Sedangkan ibunya sudah lama meninggal karena sakit.

    Setelah beranjak remaja, Coco dan saudaranya pindah ke Moulins. Di sana, ia bekerja sebagai penjahit di pagi hari dan penyanyi di sebuah kabaret pada malam harinya.

    Di kabaret itu jugalah Coco bertemu dengan Etienne Balsan, seorang bangsawan kaya yang menjadikanya wanita simpanan. Setelah berhenti menjadi penyanyi kabaret, Coco tinggal bersama Balsan dan mulai merasakan sebuah kemewahan hidup.

    Anne Fountain sebagai sutradara berhasil menggambarkan dengan baik kondisi saat Coco mencari definisi kemewahan dan kehormatan kehidupan. Semua itu tercermin dalam keanggunan Coco bersikap dan gayanya berpakaian.

    Saat tinggal bersama Balsan, Coco bertemu dengan pria asal Inggris, Arthur Edward Capel, yang sering dipanggil Boy Capel. Coco jatuh cinta padanya. Boy yang juga berasal dari keluarga bangsawan juga memendam perasaan yang sama dengan Coco.

    Akhirnya, Coco meninggalkan Balsan dan pergi bersama Boy. Lagi-lagi Coco menjadi wanita simpanan, Boy yang sudah bertunangan dengan seorang bangsawan di Inggris tidak bisa menikahinya. Walaupun demikian, hubungan cinta mereka berdua tetap terjalin. Tapi, kisah cinta itu tidak berlangsung lama.

    Boy meninggal karena kecelakaan mobil. Kesedihan yang dalam kembali Coco rasakan setelah kematian Boy. Namun, ia tak lantas terlarut dalam kesedihan terlalu lama. Ia menjadikan kesedihannya sebagai pemacu untuk terus berkarya.

    Coco semakin menekuni dunia mode, ia bekerja dengan giat dan menciptakan berbagai macam model pakaian wanita. Ia menjadi pionir dalam perubahan gayawanita.
